Welcome to Pets Alive!
Pets Alive is a no-kill animal shelter, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about 1 1/2 hours from New York City. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place animals in need. Victims of neglect, abuse, and violence, many of them have special needs and have been rejected by other organizations.

Animals at the sanctuary range from dogs and cats to farm animals, exotic birds, and many others. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older, have special needs or require special care. Read our full story here.

Cathy - dog of the month Cathy
We received a desperate plea to rescue a pregnant Boxer the day before she was to be euthanized in a Georgia shelter. We heard her story, saw her picture, and knew we had to help (read the story here in our blog).

Cathy is one of the most precious dogs we have ever had here at Pets Alive. She arrived in horrible condition, terribly emaciated, barely able to walk, and had a skin infection so bad she was missing most of the hair on her sides. She also was NOT pregnant and has some sort of issue that makes her walk a little awkward, but yet she gets around just fine.

Even though her condition was so appalling, Cathy was incredibly sweet from the moment she arrived. We are sure she knows she was saved when she was literally at death's door. Cathy is thriving now, we can see the happiness in her beautiful eyes. She is a shadow & loves to lay beside anyone who comes into her room. Her skin infection is cleared up as well and almost all the hair has grown back in. Her walking has become much better than when she first got here, although we will be getting hip x-rays to determine if it is neurological or perhaps she has arthritis or dysplasia.

We can't say enough positive things about our Cathy; she is truly a sweet, amazing, wonderful girl!!!

Please fill out an adoption application so you can meet her!

We Love You

Pets Alive would like to continually thank Marisol and Rob Thomas for their support. We would not be here if it wasn't for their help. Thank you guys so much for all that you do for us.
