in Plano | Heather Darrow Year after year Skip Jenkins dons ski attire because of Mrs. Kingsley, his elementary school teacher. When Jenkins visited his beloved educator three years ago in a retirement community, she pulled out an old three-ring binder and handed him pictures he had drawn of his family and a prayer he had written to his father, who died when Jenkins was five. For Jenkins, Mrs. Kingsley is the epitome of good teaching and the reason behind Ski Plano.

“The first time I was ever in Europe we spent the night in Germany at a manor house. It was a historic place up on a ridge looking down at the Main River flowing through the city of Wurzburg. On the opposite side of the river was the beautiful castle which Gustavus Adolphus, king of Sweden, had stormed in the 17th century during the 30 Years War. We ate dinner on the terrace overlooking this gorgeous view.”
