Hodge advanced to the rank of major general
Brig. Gen. James L. Hodge, commanding general of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), was advanced to the rank of major general Nov. 13 in a ceremony hosted by the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) at Ft. Belvoir, Va.
Gen. Benjamin S. Griffin, commanding general of AMC, officiated the ceremony.
Hodge took command of SDDC June 30, 2008 after returning from a tour as commanding general (forward), Army Materiel Command Forward and Army's Coalition Forces Land Component Command's C4 (Logistics and supply) in Southwest Asia.
He also served as SDDC's deputy commanding general from August 2005 to September 2007.
Hodge is a native of Norton, Ohio. He graduated in 1978 from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Transportation Corps. Upon completion of the Transportation Officer Basic Course, he was assigned as a platoon leader in the 7th Transportation Group, Fort Eustis, Va.
