I finally finished(?) these pants. I did find an invisible zipper, but it took me a few hours to actually get the “invisible” part to work.
anyway, my birthday was great. I spent the day at home sewing these pants (the first 3? 4? iterations of the zipper). and then brian and I went to range… the food - and cocktails - were really really good.

I’m lonely because I’m a loser with no friends. But it’s my birthday weekend and I have Monday off. Yay!

This is fun. Out here it’s so quiet. I haven’t been camping in way too long. I sat outside my tent with wine reveling in the silence.

I put a pound of redworms in my compost bin about a week ago. I started them with ripped up newspapers and some yard debris. Last weekend I added the leaves from a couple artichokes. Tonight I added some water to the bottom layer since it was totally dry and my pamphlet says the bedding should be moist. It doesn’t look like they’ve digested any of the bedding material yet, but I keep checking them.

So so tired today. I am trying to figure out the ideal commute. I can take public transportation but I have to be in San Mateo by 9 am to get the shuttle to my office. Today I tried, but missed my train by a minute (if only those people hadn’t been in front of me in the coffee shop) and had to get a cab from the train station.
I can do a combination of MUNI, BART, Caltrain, and shuttle. I can do MUNI, Caltrain, shuttle. I can do BART, Caltrain, shuttle. Or I can just ride my motorcycle which is the fastest and the cheapest by far, and lets me sleep in the latest. I’m worried about what I’ll do when the rainy season starts. Riding on the freeway in the rain doesn’t sound like any kind of fun to me - and frankly, kinda scares the crap outta me. I can take the backroads (ie, El Camino Real), but I don’t know how long that will take. Or I can do some combination of public transportation. Hence all this experimentation.
I have to take my bike in next week for about $600 of work. Craphole. I need to learn how to do some of this maintenance. Therefore, I must clean out the garage and get started on my project bike.
Last night I finished the muslin of the skirt I “designed” (read copied from a Dolce and Gabbana ad). I think somehow it got too big in the hips. I’ll take it to class on Thursday and see what the instructor has to say.
Next I need to cut out another skirt for my final skirts. Tonight I am too tired to be productive, so I will drink beer. Yay!

Maybe it’s time to bring the bendy blog back from the dead. I want to keep track of projects and things I’m doing.
1. Sewing/designing - I’m taking the Patternmaking and Design class at Apparel Arts and really enjoying it. So far I’ve almost finished the skirts section of the class. I just have to design and make 2 final skirts. I started actually designing my first skirt this past week and it was fabulous.
2. Motorcycling - I’m thinking about taking a co-worker up on his offer of a free motorcycle to use as a project bike. I think it would be a blast to take it apart and get it going again. I just need to reorganize the garage a bit. Also, I love my current bike and may want to babble on about it some.
3. Crafting - I have some ideas for things to make and sell on Etsy. There’s that qilt I never finished - it’s all over but the quilting. I have ideas for a couple of different albums of mementos to make. Wait five minutes and I’ll have more ideas.
4. Worms - I’m experimenting with vermicomposting.
5. Work - I’m getting into some pretty interesting programming projects.
