Senior Services honors community leader, volunteers
The Senior Citizens Council of Cobb County honored Cobb County Manager David Hankerson as "Community Leader of the Year" at its annual recognition luncheon last week.

District 1 town hall to be held Thursday
The public will have a chance to share their questions and thoughts with District 1 Commissioner Helen Goreham at her town hall meeting 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, at North Cobb Senior Center.

Voters can step up and be counted again this week
Voters will need to go to the Elections Main Office, 736 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Plant a tree at new Cobb County fire station
Volunteers are invited to participate in Keep Cobb Beautiful’s Cobb Trees Program tree planting on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Cobb County Fire station 28 in Acworth.

A running Thanksgiving tradition to help others
The sixth annual Gobble Jog, benefiting MUST Ministries, will be held Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, on the Marietta Square.

Local leaders to step onstage in seasonal ballet show
Cobb County Chairman Sam Olens will be one of the local leaders who will dance in the Georgia Ballet's production of The Nutcracker the weekend of Dec. 5-7 at the Cobb County Civic Center Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.

Supper offers pre-holiday personal time with Santa
Dinner with Santa will take place 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Ward Recreation Center, 4845 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs.

Arts, crafts and luncheon for Mableton Christmas event
An annual holiday event will be held Dec. 5-14 at the Mable House Arts Center with the Christmas House Arts and Crafts Gift Sale open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Creative high school youth groups can now pull out their video cameras to produce their own video public service announcements for the "Youth Voice and Vision" contest.

Cookbook could make for excellent holiday gift
Senior Services is now offering the "Treasured Recipes Cookbook" for sale. All proceeds from the $10 book, which contains more than 175 delicious, time-tested recipes, will benefit the Meals on Wheels program.
