Welcome
Thanks for stopping by my website. Last spring when people casually
asked me, "Where are you from?" I usually said, "I don't live
anywhere." My furniture was in Kansas, my husband was working in
Colorado, and I was on the road almost constantly, doing author
visits--helping teachers and young writers, in the U.S. and overseas,
grasp some of the things I've learned about how to make writing
strong. Or speaking
about the importance of literacy to bring hope, dreams, and skills to
chidren anywhere, including the children of Ethiopia, the land of my
childhood. |

| This spring, I'll be on the road again.

I'll
also be typing away (novel deadlines, don't you know?) in airports, on
airplanes, and occasionally in my apartment in Lawrence, Kansas.
Also, I'll be on the faculty of the MFA program in Vermont
